To receive monthly show announcements and calls for submissions, email jroberts51@ivytech.edu. ¤ Betsy Stirratt, painter. Wine: La Marca Prosecco—a sparkling Italian wine—“… lively without being raucus. Gentle, linear, and blithe.” Ms. Stirratt’s recent works comprise two series—one based on a viscous, liquid environment, the other on pre-set palettes that create emotional meaning. She has been the Director of the School of Fine Arts Gallery (now the Grunwald Gallery) at Indiana University since 1987. ¤ Erik Wallace, photographer. Wine: Chateau Puynormand—a young Cabernet—“The components of the wine are all present, but are singularly detectable as individual edges of a much larger shape.Eschewing digital for the versatility of silver process, mathematician Erik Wallace thinks of his photographic negatives “roughly like a music score—I treat each on its own terms and choose an interpretation." ¤ Jack Doskow, sculptor. Wine: Valley of the Moon—California Chardonnay—“…aged in stainless steel for that metallic muscle.”Color, texture, and humor abound in this collection of wall-mounted and free-standing pieces. Self-taught and busy making art since 1971, Doskow recently created the awards for the Indianapolis International Film Festival. ¤ Mac Fleming, photographer. Wine: Meiomi—Pinot Noir—“Like these photos, Pinot can be still, subtle and peaceful.”World traveler Mac Fleming pulls images from many decade’s worth of photos to create this aptly titled retrospective: “Landscapes and Seascapes from the Far West to the Middle East." |
