Within this collection– "Martyr Arcade," I have juxtaposed Patron Saints or talismans into their own pinball games. Who could be more worthy? The shape of the game resembles Renaissance religious panels. The spiritual overlay is something I’ve visited before in Mother and Child portraits with more human qualities. I never grew up in a religious home, but sometimes coincidence and luck have fallen in my lap like the Jones Elementary cake walk where I won four, maybe five as lore goes. Portraits have always been in my wheelhouse so I wanted to create a more original format (a game) where important individuals could be presented
I look at the power of narrative, the interplay between decorative and fine art- by drawing upon my background as part of an artist family with expertise in fiber, ceramics, visual communication, and painting. I went to Interlochen Arts Academy, have a Bachelor’s degree in fine art and started an MFA in graphic design. I've resided and shown in Indiana, Michigan and New York. Currently my husband and I live in Bloomington with a chihuahua, beagle and cat named Wanda who is always searching for a better life, but has always come back.
